farmers group is located in Gampaha District in the Western
Province of Sri Lanka. This area is a semi wet and Dry Zone.
They cultivate Turmeric, Ginger and Lemon Grass. These are
not perennial crops. They have to replant them once every
Turmeric and Ginger are growing roots under the earth. The Lemon
Grass looks like a grass bush. Most of these farmers cultivate
Turmeric, Ginger and Lemon Grass under the coconut cultivation
as a secondary crop. Therefore the main crop is coconut and
they get a good income from the harvest of coconut once every
two months. Turmeric and Ginger harvest is only once every year
but the harvest of lemon grass they do through out the year.
